Poems of the Week
All three of these poems are a part of A Chronic Journey, which are currently being collected into the first chapter of my book of poetry - A Diary of Poetry (working title).
This poem is a response to the recent shooting. We have real problems in this country — which have nothing to do with the gender identity or sexual orientation of the shooter — and all to do with the fetishization of guns, radicalization of hate, and weaponization of fear.
Thoughts and prayers don’t work — meaningful gun reforms do.
Thoughts and prayers don’t work — meaningful social programs do.
I stand loudly against the hate and othering being thrown at those in the trans community.
