Hi everyone, and thanks for subscribing to my Substack. I realize that there is an innumerable amount of written content you can engage with on a daily basis and I’m honored that you would choose to read some of what God is working in my heart and mind. I’ve taken a few months off from sharing my writing on this platform since #LentenDaily 2025, The Kingdom of God Drawn Near ended. You might ask what I’ve been up to? Honestly, the summer was joyfully full of visitors to our home on Lake Hartwell, (including four weeks with our grandsons in June) paddleboarding with Tuck and wakesurfing as much as I could! Dale and I ended the summer with a month-long trip out west, taking in the beauty of our country and ending our adventure with a magnificent week in the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon. It was all so good for my soul.
In addition to enjoying the joys of lake life and travel these past few months, I’ve been prayerfully studying, researching and writing my next devotional project, just in time for Advent. God’s Promise Through Generations is an Advent devotional I’ve written for adults to enjoy solo or with their friends, family and church. It is now available for purchase from my website. In addition, you may access the digital version right here on Substack and receive daily installments throughout the Advent season. There is also a podcast version that many of you have enjoyed before, making it possible to listen to the devotion, the Scripture reading and accompanying Advent hymn on your way to work or getting kids to school.
This year I’ve also created a coloring book for ages Pre-K to 5th grade to accompany the adult version, so they can engage and learn right alongside their parents and grandparents! Unfortunately, I can’t make this available through Substack, but would love for you to consider ordering hard copies of the coloring book as well as the adult devotional. There is something so beautiful and rich in practicing Advent each evening, over a meal with family and friends. As we light the candles and engage with God’s Word, we can’t help but consider how every story and symbol found in Scripture, from the garden to the gospels call us to follow the thread of Redemption, woven throughout history.
