10-4: Target is introducing “customer service” for the holiday shopping season. According to USA Today: Shoppers “will soon see more smiles and maybe even exchange more pleasantries with employees, thanks to a new staff policy the retailer has implemented, the company said.
The new policy requires employees who are within 10 feet of customers to smile, make eye contact, wave, and use friendly, approachable, and welcoming body language, the Minneapolis-based retailer told USA TODAY on Monday, Nov. 10.
If staff members are within 4 feet of customers, they must personally greet the guests, smile, and initiate a warm, helpful interaction, Target said.”
Red Cup Strike: Starbucks unionized workers, about 1,000, in 65 stores in 40 cities, striked on Thursday, during one of the company’s biggest marketing days of the year. The workers average around $15 per hour.
Death & Estates:
Brian visits a neighborhood Estate sale and hunts for typewriters.
McCue: One of Brian’s high school classmates, Matt McCue, passed away earlier this month.
Big Dom: Domenic Giacobbe, who coached baseball with Brian, passed away in a traffic accident this past Friday.
Swintec Typewriter: Brian found a Swintec electric typewriter, the same one that is approved by many state prisons, except those have a clear cabinet.
