Sign Rulers: Venus and Moon Decan Rulers: Mercury and VenusKeywords: Organising Resources, Planning and Preparation, Sustainable Growth
Tarot Correspondence: 5 of Pentacles
Have you been trying to keep something going? Maybe you have always cared about it, but the resources it asks of you have changed, maybe it needs more of your time or it is costing you more in other ways and now you are really feeling it? Are you ready to admit that, even if only to yourself?
Now is the time to ask yourself what you want to sustain, and to consider whether a better question, might be what the ground beneath you (or the resources available to you) can actually support?
Overnight in the UK, on 26th October 2026, (it may fall for you on the evening of the 25th depending on your time zone), the Moon shines full in Taurus. At 2 degrees, 45 minutes, this Full Moon can illuminate what sustains you and bring a peak or culmination to a story you have tended for around eighteen months. You may be understanding the limits of what the ground beneath you can actually support and sustain.
The Moon offers us choices of timing cycles, you may find the story that calls to you now may have only begun 2 weeks ago with the Libra New Moon or perhaps 6 months ago at the Taurus New Moon. The Taurus Moon Family began with a Taurus New Moon 18 Months ago for the longest story thread in your life. Whichever storyline stands out, or is most meaningful for you, something in the Taurus part of our natal chart is being illuminated and reflected in our lives.
The Moon Family takes us back to April 2025, when planting intentional new seeds in fertile soil may have felt quite different from finding the time and resources to care for what’s growing now. You are invited to take a little time to reflect and notice both your progress and its cost.
Taurus is the fixed, yin or feminine earth sign ruled by the planet of Love and Connection, Venus. It is the sign where the Moon herself is exalted, treated as an honoured guest. Taurus receives and stabilises, holds and develops what has already taken root.
This Full Moon is under pressure astrologically. The Taurus Moon opposes the Sun in Scorpio, but they also both square Pluto in Aquarius. This creates a tight, and applying fixed T-Square from the heavy-hitting Lord of the Underworld. The Moon and Sun are often referred to as our Luminaries and here they are challenged by the planet of Shadow. For us, the question may be, have you done any shadow work, how do you face your fears?
Ruler Venus continues her retrograde journey, and has now returned to Libra her home sign, after her travels in Scorpio. This is an improvement in dignity and is much more comfortable. This means Venus can express her significations without friction from Mars, helping us to connect through conversations, ideas and meetings, although her ongoing retrograde means that she is looking back at the past, maybe there are setbacks and delays before things will be ready for forward motion.
Venus is still averse to the Full Moon, as she was to the Libra New Moon earlier this month, she has no clear line of sight to shine her rays of support, but this time, there is sympathy and support for the Full Moon through Like Engerding, both the Full Moon and Venus have a shared ruler.
When she turns direct, she will retrace her steps over this same terrain, having taken time and consideration to integrate lessons of the past, it will then be time to move forward confidently. Earlier in October, Venus also ruled the Libra New Moon while retrograde in Scorpio, at that time, we were re-examining the commitments and promises we have made.
Venus rules both lunations this month, bringing our attention to her retrograde themes. The Full Moon also now invites us to look at those agreements and choices in the full moonlight, as well as with the tension of fears and shadows from Pluto as we understand what they require in material reality.
The Longer Story - Your Taurus Moon Family
The Taurus Moon Family guides us to a subtle longer story in the Taurus part of our natal chart, and our lives. Dietrich Pessin introduced the Moon Family or Lunar Gestation Cycle, In Moon Families four lunations, or progressing Moon Sun phases return to nearby degrees, the same zodiac address, over roughly twenty-seven months. This means we can follow something as it begins, develops, and eventually needs review, integration and release. This family will stay within the first decan of Taurus.
This Full Moon belongs to a Moon Family that began on April 27th, 2025, with a New Moon near 8 degrees.
New Moon 27 April 2025 7°47′ Taurus I
First Quarter 26 January 2026 6°14′ Taurus I
Full Moon 26 October 2026 2°45′ Taurus I
Last Quarter 26 July 2027 3°29′ Taurus I
The first quarter offers a pivot point for effort and decisions. Now, in October 2026, we have reached the culmination and illumination stage. The last quarter follows in 2027, when you might recognise what you’ve learned and what you’re ready to wind down to release.
This is a lunar storyline that unfolds slowly and organically, just as the Taurus bull moves steadily and intentionally.
It can help to keep a journal or note on your calendar with each of these dates and to track how your relationship to Taurus themes, money, food, pleasure, relaxation, enjoyment of senses and textures, planning, peace of mind, cultivation, self-worth, physical wellbeing and sustainability evolves. Look back through your photos and music, your messages and emails if you need help to jog your memory.
If you have planets or angles in the early fixed signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, especially around 1 - 8 degrees, this Moon Family and the Full Moon may be more personally noticeable. Locate 2°45′ Taurus in your own chart and see if it connects with any personal planets or angles.
Your Taurus house can deepen the themes and tell you more about your story. We can understand that a fourth-house story about home asks different questions from a tenth-house story about work. Your personal, lived experience fills in what the symbols in the chart can’t tell us. Also look at the houses where your natal Venus and Moon are placed in, these themes may also come into your personal story.
In Celestia Circle, we look ahead at the Moon Families coming up in the month so you can plan ahead and get individual and group support as you work with them. It includes the monthly Lunar Story Journal with all the dates and prompts to help you track the Moon Families.

The Landscape: Decan of Taurus I - The Plough
The first decan of Taurus is co-ruled by Mercury and Venus in the Chaldean and Triplicity methods. Mercury, the planet of communication and our minds works with the grounded, earthy blessings of pleasure-seeking Venus. A decan is a ten-degree division, or segment of a sign. Each sign is 30 degrees, so there are 3 decans in every sign, each with their own rulers and stories.
Taurus I is often associated with the mercurial and mental work of planning and preparation, but we are doing this work to maximise our resources. Austin Coppock, in 36 Faces has named this decan, The Plough, and astrologer Kira Ryberg calls this landscape Planning.
The Plough brings to mind an image of the agricultural symbolism of breaking and dividing ground, or the material you are working with, with the intention to sow new seeds, to maintain the quality of the soil, or to create a fertile environment for your mercurial ideas. Using a plough to break up the land can also expose what was hidden, buried below in the dark earth.
It is a place of effort, often unseen labour that is necessary to prepare the land for abundance in the longer term. Austin Coppock describes this as a decan where we must get our hands dirty, doing the hard, preparatory work even when conditions are imperfect. He writes:
“the power this decan grants is that of understanding how to create growth” and that we must also ensure that “the mind, heart and body are all ripe fields, which offer abundance when cultivated”
Any decorator will tell you that if you don’t do the prep work of sanding down and cleaning the surface, the paint will not stick or be even. Yet, when people admire the finished results, no one ever comments on how good the preparation was. Here, worry about the outcome, or desire for the Venusian pleasing result, can become a driving force that motivates the long-term planning.
Kira Ryberg writes of Planning, focusing on the mental and emotional preparation required to build something which will be resilient. This emphasises the anticipatory strategy that supports us to survive scarcity. Preparedness requires mental energy, to organise, budget, map outcomes, and preempt risk.
The Wild Way Oracle names Taurus I Cultivation. The image shows the Mole, who knows that good harvests begin beneath the surface. Mole teaches that good cultivation begins underground, with thoughtfulness, foresight, and strategic effort. Planning doesn’t control or guarantee outcomes, but it means organising resources, preparing the ground, and planting only what you’re willing to tend. Mole knows this is how to alleviate worry and make an abundant harvest more likely.
Mole works hard, but his work is hidden work, involves preparation, and the hope of rewards from thoughtful foresight. The wisdom of Mole is enduring: “By thinking through all eventualities ahead of time, unnecessary worry can be alleviated and bountiful results are more likely.”
In the image, we are shown the Mole who has emerged from his digging above the earth in a green field with daffodils. In his work, he appears to have found a key, which is balanced on his head. We may understand from this that the key to good results and peace from worry is careful planning.
The Wild Way gives us the keywords for this decan: Organising Resources, Planning and Preparation, Sustainable Growth
This lunation offers a moment to think ahead without panic or pressure, as we can also assess what we are being shown from what has already grown. Is the environment fertile, does it need some cultivation, do we need more planning, has the growth been sustainable? How can you use this time to ease any unnecessary worry that drains valuable energy? Where can you invest your energy today to bring abundance in the future?
The Astrological Conversation
The fun loving, people-connecting ruler of this Full Moon, Venus returns to Libra on 25th October, still retrograde. She returns back to her own sign after visiting the early degrees of Scorpio. From Libra, Venus can give more support to us in discussions, negotiation and finding balance and fairness while the review of relationships and values continues.
The challenging issues that Venus faced in Scorpio may return with her into Libra. Perhaps you’ve recognised issues around shame, power imbalances resulting in an unequal exchange, you may be wondering how to share decisions differently, or wanting to speak honestly without putting a relationship at risk. These could be some challenging issues being brought into the light, asking you to reflect on how you now want to sustain the situation, what is in your power to change?
Venus has also just passed her conjunction, or Cazimi with the Sun, on the 23rd October. That meeting can symbolise a fresh understanding within the retrograde, a new beginning for her cycle with the Sun, but she’s still close to the Sun and not visible in the sky, still said to be within her underworld journey. During this time we may find that understanding something and feeling ready to act can take different amounts of time. It is enough to see the situation in a new light, and begin to think about the action you want to take, without being ready to take it just yet.
This Full Moon is under pressure from Lord of the Underworld, Pluto through a tight, applying fixed T-square. The Moon in Taurus opposes the Sun in Scorpio, and both square Pluto at three degrees of Aquarius. Pluto stationed direct on 16th October earlier this month. Fixed signs tend to sustain, maintain, resist and hold on, especially when change feels unstable or threatening.
The Full Moon may be illuminating for you just where that tension has reached the point of no return and something has to give. This may be about something that was a fear or in the shadows, that must now be faced in order to find a resolution.
Pluto in Aquarius brings future-focused technology, groups and larger systems into the themes. This is the first lunation to meet Pluto since the station and change of direction, which can also bring a greater intensity of significations.
Mercury stationed retrograde in Scorpio on 24th October. As the decan ruler of Taurus I is retracing its steps, you might find yourself returning to a conversation or checking details that could have felt settled before an unanswered question surfaced. You can change direction, change your mind or alter any terms being discussed, as you find out more.
The Full Moon is also in a whole sign square to the planets in Leo, Mars, Jupiter and the South Node. Both the Moon and the Sun will meet these planets in an exact square as they move deeper into Taurus and Scorpio respectively. We may begin to feel the effects of the square and the challenging questions they will ask now.
Three Things You Might Notice
What has grown
It might be that looking back to April 2025 and January 2026 brings something back in your memory that links to events now. If it doesn’t, the last six months, since the last Taurus New Moon, can still give you a useful check-in, (although that window isn’t the beginning of this Moon Family).
Sometimes growth in the fixed areas of our charts, and lives can be overlooked. It is less likely to be dramatic and exciting new starts. It can often be the steady growth of something that was already in our lives, so is easily missed or overlooked when reflecting.
The Full Moon is offering to illuminate the growth, and give us an opportunity to resolve any outstanding tensions from the past to ensure the growth can be sustained.
The scarcity reflex
The decan of Taurus I is associated with careful planning and cultivation. Do you always know whether your worry and anxiety is well placed, or unrealistic? It can be hard to tell, and easy to slip to an extreme. This may be from an urge to gather more, even to hoard, shop, overeat or pick another poison, when you feel unsafe.
It may be that you say yes to work that overwhelms you, because if you say no, you worry that the flow of work might dry up? Or are your cupboards at home overflowing, because the decisions involved in a clear out are just too hard?
Sometimes it can help to reflect on what the deeper fear may be that lies underneath. That maybe the scarcity reflex is a coping mechanism. At this time of retrogrades, and while the Moon and Sun connect with Pluto we have support to go deeper into old patterns, in the hope we may begin to slowly release them, The light of day is the first step.
Seek advice and support if you can, maybe a trusted friend or a professional if the issues coming up are challenging.
What Venus is reviewing
Venus has been reviewing power dynamics, relationships, women’s rights and the corruption and ways the patriarchy can abuse and erode those rights. There can be love and affection in a relationship, and still, you can have slipped into patterns that you are becoming aware, no longer support the person you are growing into.
It maybe that you no longer have the resources to contribute what you used to, or you wish to redirect those resources, such as your time and energy, elsewhere. Take an honest look at what relationships are sustaining you and bringing you support, and where you might be struggling, perhaps to communicate your needs effectively.
Are both parties working together to change and grow? Or, maybe you feel you have been carrying the weight of keeping the peace on your own. It may be that one conversation, or a small and simple request can begin the process of redressing the balance. Be honest with yourself about how realistic that feels, or whether deeper change is called for. Venus in Libra is seeking balance in our relationships, and she carries the pain she found in Scorpio seeking healing.
And Finally…
You might still want what you started growing once you have identified it, or you might realise that you might need different conditions now to sustain and to continue tending it. The Full Moon is asking us to reassess your resources as well as your values to ensure that your growth remains sustainable.
