A Solar Eclipse will happen at the same time as a New Moon and this one is in Aries, representing the start of the astrological new year.
Aries is the Cardinal, Yang or Masculine, outgoing and action oriented Temple of fiery, courageous warrior planet Mars.
We find Mars currently swimming in the watery, expansive depths deep in the feels of Pisces.
Aries is the sign of the exaltation of the sun and the Sun will also be exactly at the degree of its exaltation. This draws attention from astrologers and doubles down on the delineation that this Eclipse has something meaningful, of a Solar and Mars nature to bring into the world. It is in the decan of the sun, Aries II.
In both traditions of astrology, the Sun rules this decan and this also draws our attention. Austin Coppock gives the image of the crown and in theWild Way Oracle Deck we see the bear wearing the crown. T Susan Chang titles this Decan 'The Kingdom of Gold'. The Wild Way Oracle deck by Nicola Allan titles this Decan 'Take the Lead' and depicts the Aries Bear wearing his Crown ruling his forest from his rocky throne.
The Total Solar Eclipse will be visible in 15 states of America and the partial eclipse will be visible in all states. It will be 2044 before America sees another total eclipse. When layered on the 2023 eclipse path, the two form the shape of a cross. It is from Saros series 139, an 18 year cycle where the eclipses fall in the same place, but gradually move forward by 10 degrees or so. This is eclipse no 30 of 71 in the series.
You may remember previous eclipses which fell in this part of your birth chart. If you experienced major shifts in 1970, 1988 or 2006 then it is more likely you may experience similar themes with a different flavour or seasoning this year.
This Eclipse is conjunct the wounded healer Chiron and also co present with retrograde mercury and direct Venus. There is no sight of ruler Mars who has yet to gain dignity by bound or decan which will come later in April (16th).
