People are still listening...

The latest research shows good old fashioned terrestrial radio still has a major share of daily audio time. According to Edison Research’s latest “Share of Ear” study, traditional AM/FM radio, which includes online streaming, captured over 30% of all audio listening among those 13 years of age and older. That means radio was the single largest source of audio consumption in the United States!

And that’s not all... in another new study, ad-supported audio audiences, mostly those listening to AM/FM radio, were above all other media listening leading to Amazon Prime purchases on Prime Day. That study was from the latest Cumulus Media | Westwood One Audio Active Group blog. They surveyed over 900 Americans. The study showed over half of AM/FM radio listeners in the group purchased something during the most recent Prime Day event.

The study showed ad-supported audio platforms, which included AM/FM radio, podcasts, and streaming consistently outperformed all other media driving e-commerce action. So, the next time you feel worried about your job, or how many people are actually listening, remember radio was, and is a leading driver of e-commerce. So, people are listening!

The Audio Active Group says retailers who want to maximize their sales, and reach may want to consider AM/FM as a major part of their media strategy.
