What are the actual psychological triggers within propaganda that enable the state to maintain the belief of political authority?
Philip Bodeswell joins me to discuss his groundbreaking online book, “The Narcissist State”.
Few thinkers have explored the eerie parallels between living breathing narcissists, and how statist propaganda manages to manipulate minds. No, it’s not narcissistic Bond villains rubbing their hands in glee. It’s the natural systemic outcome of statism. How the myth of political authority makes our minds vulnerable to well-understood narcissistic dynamics.
But it’s not merely descriptive. Philip seeks to empower the individual…to become aware of the dynamic and be mentally on guard. And he provides useful guidance that parallels the healthy ways to deal with real-life narcissism: exit strategies.
Philip is proud of his lifelong commitment to political liberty and the ideas and activities that get us there. He values independence, especially in thought. Philip has degrees, or their equivalent, in Sport, History, Computer Science and Law. He’s done contract IT development and project management from within the matrix. He’s a UK qualified barrister, and has been involved in radical politics in the UK. In fact, he was imprisoned for refusing masking during COVID. He’s run an informal on/offline gathering called ‘Agora’ for many years. Plus, he’s a keen squash player/coach, and has even done some stand-up comedy in London.
