In this episode I am joined by psychologist and yoga instructor Dr Kaitlin to talk about emotions. Dr Kaitlin’s journey began studying eastern philosophy where her lecturer then introduced her to yoga and through that found saw the benefits on the mind and started studying psychology. Together we talk about the evolutionary benefit of emotions and the harm in ‘positive vibes only’ culture.
We talk about the term alexithymia - which is the difference in neural wiring and awareness and also some of the consequences for repressing emotions. As well, we talk about the importance if regular check ins to help increase emotional awareness and listening to your body.
