CHURCH DISCIPLINE & LOVE ~ 2 or 12
Jesus & Church Discipline
Jesus talks about the church only twice in all the Gospels. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said: "I will build my church." And here in Matthew 18 Jesus instructs regarding church discipline.
Moreover, church discipline is the LAST instruction that Jesus gives in the Bible to all churches (Rev. 3:19-22):
"Those whom I love, I reprove anddiscipline… he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says here to all churches.”
Now think about this. Jesus, the Founder of His church and the Head of HIs church - the ONLY instruction that Jesus gives for His church, and gives it twice, is for CHURCH DISCIPLINE!
Whatever you or your church think about church discipline, if you don’t think it is one of the most important subjects for the church to be taught and obeyed, then I can’t help but wonder how much such a church really respects its Founder and Head - JESUS.
