In this segment, Gifted Underachiever Dobes christens the actions of the devilish duo—evil twins, if you will—that can hold back the creation of a work-in-progress “the Hard-Easy Effect.”
One evil twin is Procrastination—specifically, the kind of procrastination born from the mistaken idea that there’s not enough time to do any meaningful work on the project today because it will be hard to get into it and even harder to produce anything meaningful. So we delay starting, thinking that we’ll come at it again when we have more TIME, maybe next week, next month, or (when the day job is particularly busy), next year.
The other evil twin is Delusion, born from the unproven idea that once we get going, it’ll be easy to complete the project. The creation will move from concept to actuality without problems, delays, or misfires. We will bear down and get it done in NO TIME AT ALL.
This “Hard-Easy Effect” can delay or derail projects. To combat it, we need the righteous twins of Awareness and An Actionable Plan.
Questions for Listeners:
* Have you ever delayed a project due to lack of time?
* How does that usually go?
* What’s your solution?
