Even the greatest fathers in the Christ faith experienced fear when facing a test of faith. Elijah, Moses, and Jesus all experienced moments of fear. God has placed something on their hearts or called them to a specific task and they experienced fear. Moses did not want to go talk to Pharoh. Elijah did not want to face Ahad. Jesus did not want to go to the cross. They experienced turmoil over what God was calling them to do.

What made them the great people we still talk about today is that they were faithful even in fear. They faced their fears and did it anyway. There will be times in life when God calls you to do something that goes against what is natural to you. You will experience a moment when you will have to choose between your fears or being faithful.

Esther had a choice. She could stay quiet and allow her people to be wiped out. Or, she could risk her life by going in front of the king without being summoned. That would be a scary choice for anyone! We have an entire book of the Bible about Esther and her story because she chose to be faithful in spite of her fears.

When it comes time to make a choice, remember our goal in life. The goal isn’t to have success by earthly standards. The goal of believers in Jesus are to hear the words, “Well done good and faithfulservant.” God desires us to be faithful, whether a little or a lot. We see this in the story of the talents in Matthew 25. When you face fears, remember the story of Esther and be faithful. The results are up to God. Our role and goal is to simply be faithful, even when we are fearful.
