Episode 59 and my guest this week is Ali Ryan, a 24 year old journalism student from Clondalkin in Dublin. Ali struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues from her teens and attempted to take her own life in February 2021.
Ali had availed of the services available to all young people, but guilt, shame and trying to escape from the way She was feeling brought her on a downward spiral even though She had a loving and supportive family. The pressure of trying to fit in with her peers and wanting to be included led her to make choices that She knew would not be good for her.
Since surviving Ali made the decision to take back control of her health and well-being. She is actually working every day to heal her trauma.
