Helen Kelly is an African Reflexologist living in Roscam, Galway in the West of Ireland. She is many things in life, including being a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, grand aunt, dog and horse lover. She is genuine, practical, down to earth, empathic, friendly, funny, kind and sometimes a bit mad!
She describes her life so far using the analogy of the ‘Game of Jenga’, which involves building a tower from wooden bricks. The object of the game is to take away one brick at a time, trying to avoid the tower collapsing. She says the tower - her life, had a rocky foundation from an early age. There were many times she fell apart as bricks were withdrawn, leaving her feeling shaky and frightened until her early twenties, when her ability to keep going completely collapsed like the tower. She has rebuilt the tower many times, balancing the good times with the not so good. Having experienced negative emotions such as chronic anxiety, severe depression, loneliness, loss, deep trauma and grief along the way. This is the first time She has shared her story publicly and I am honoured to be a part of her wonderful journey.
