Bitcoin surged as high as $87,000, crossing its 50-week moving average in a move some called the start of a new bull market, before easing toward the mid-$85,000s in Asia.
The crypto market added about $160 billion in market cap over 24 hours as shorts were squeezed.
More than $1 billion in positions were liquidated, with shorts accounting for roughly $850 million and more than 130,000 traders hit.
Nasdaq closed up 2.8%, while the S&P 500 gained about 1.5% and the Dow rose 0.7%. Roughly $1.2 trillion was added to the US stock market.
Amd crossed $1 trillion in market cap for the first time after a roughly 10% jump. Arm rose about 17%, Intel 12%, and Meta 11%.
Oil prices fell for a fourth session and Treasury yields eased, helping risk assets.
Michael Saylor’s Strategy now holds about $8.75 billion in unrealized Bitcoin profit and the stock rallied sharply.
X is partnering with Gemini, Kraken, Coinbase, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo so users can trade crypto and stocks from the timeline.
Google and Apple are hiring crypto specialists as they expand into stablecoins, tokenization and blockchain payments.
Polymarket put a 78% chance on Bitcoin finishing the month above $87,500, and odds of $100,000 this year hit a four-month high.
October has historically been Bitcoin’s strongest month.
US unemployment has now stayed below 5% for 60 months, the second-longest streak on record.
To afford the median US home now requires about $126,000 of income against a median household income of $86,000, a 47% gap near the highest on record.
