Let’s Be Real About Respect
I don’t give a damn if this ruffles feathers and it needs to be said.
This space is about connection, truth, and mutual support.
I’m happy to uplift others.
I do promote people.
I do share good work.
But when someone drops into a note thread, without context, without relationship, and starts promoting their Substack in the replies?
Nope. That’s not it!
That’s not community. That’s not respect. That’s not how we do things here.
If I’ve never seen you before, and your first move is to use someone else’s space to boost yourself without so much as a hello or contribution?
I’m removing the comment.
And maybe even blocking you.
Here’s the difference:
When someone mentions they’ve written a book or are working on something meaningful, I don’t shut it down.
I respond. And I have done this before.
I might even say, “Hey, you are welcome to share your link here”.
Because that’s about sharing, not spamming.
So let’s keep this space clean. Grounded. Generous.
But also real.
Respect goes both ways.
Can I get a hell yeah? Or amen?
