In the final part of our Beyond the Nets: Embracing the Full Call of Discipleship series, we explore the role of being "shepherds of sheep." While fishing and harvesting are vital to evangelism and growth, shepherding is about leadership—guiding, protecting, and nurturing others on their spiritual journeys. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, calls us to lead with His voice, using God's Word to guide others towards Him. As spiritual leaders, we’re entrusted not only with leading others but also with protecting them from spiritual dangers, using the authority God gives us to defend against false teachings and temptations.
Practical discipleship as a shepherd requires us to listen for God’s voice, lead by example, and stand firm in defending those in our care. By living a life rooted in God’s truth, we model the way for others to follow. Our calling as shepherds is not just to guide but to protect and nurture, leading others toward Christ, who is the ultimate Good Shepherd. As we embrace this role, we are reminded that true leadership in the Kingdom of God is sacrificial and rooted in love, always pointing others back to Christ as the source of life and guidance.
