In the third part of our series, The Road to Redemption: Lessons from John 12, we dive into the essential aspect of discipleship. Jesus calls us to follow Him, not just in belief, but in service. In John 12:26, He teaches that true greatness comes from serving others, just as He Himself came to serve, not to be served. This principle is further emphasized in Matthew 20:26-28 and Mark 10:45. To follow Christ means embracing a life of humble service, always prioritizing others’ needs before our own. Jesus’ example of sacrificial love challenges us to live selflessly and faithfully.
We also explore the importance of walking in the light of Christ, as seen in John 8:12 and 12:35-36. To follow Jesus is to walk in His light, avoiding the darkness of sin and uncertainty. This journey requires us to reflect on the cost of discipleship, as Jesus warns in Luke 14:27-28, urging us to count the cost of following Him. As we commit to serving, walking in His light, and embracing the sacrifices necessary for true discipleship, we grow closer to Christ and fulfill our calling.
