Do you think you are worthy?
It’s a big existential question. It can determine if you have a secure base and attachment to God and others. It is an essential concept for forming boundaries, or having purpose and meaning in life.
What does the Bible say about worthiness? The word, righteous, which is all over the Bible, encompasses this concept. I listed verses below that I reference.
I pray that you will see that only God is righteous; only God is worthy of all our worship and praise; and only God is able to save us. Jesus gives us His righteousness and worthiness through His life, death, and resurrection. He makes us righteous and worthy! We are valuable to God! May we live in that confidence and humility this week.
Romans 3:10–12
[10] as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one;
[11] no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
[12] All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.” (ESV)
Genesis 1:27–28
[27] So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
[28] And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (ESV)
2 Corinthians 5:21
[21] For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (ESV)
