When moving forward on a path, you have three directions you can go; up, down or level. Everyone’s life experiences this forward momentum and these three directions can vary through time and tempo. Even if you think you are sitting still and not moving, time is moving you forward with it.
What is considered ‘up’ would be successes or goal attainments that helped you reach a higher level of satisfaction. That differs per person and business and it could be one goal or many. For example, buying a house, visiting Greece, finishing a car project, climbing Kilimanjaro, retiring or whatever it is. These are goals that you want to attain, and you have it checked off as done.
What is considered ‘down’, would be the setbacks that caused the goal to be extended out of reach and a bit further away or a goal you have completely given up on. These causes can be financial setbacks, physical setbacks, priority changes, and many other circumstances we all experience in life that derails the momentum.
Then there is ‘level’, which is coasting on day by day with minimal effort and no setbacks. You are content and flowing on the stream of time, possibly happy with a sprinkling of regrets, as everyone has them. This isn’t a bad place to be, but beware that this ‘level’ path can be gradually going in a downward direction and lead to a less fulfilling life.
Choosing to walk on the track or take the stairs is all about the energy and effort one puts on your forward path journey. It takes more energy and exertion to climb stairs and a similar energy is done in going down the stairs in the form of balance control and coordination to keep from falling. The lesser energy is done by walking on the track, which you can go a long way before getting tired. This requires patience and persistence to attain your goals, but beware that you may be walking in circles and never get anywhere.
Awareness is the key to understanding where you are at this present moment. Are you moving up, down or level? Then know if you are climbing stairs or on a track. Strive to move up, either it be on a track or stairs, because this leads to more fulfillment with fewer regrets in life, when time finally will take all of us away.
