We go through the motions to do what we can every day. We stay productive, make friends and sometimes enemies. We follow this liner path that we think is heading us in the right direction, but then someone tells you something different. That the path you are on isn't the path for you.
Do we really know ourselves? Or do we think we are the better part of ourselves on point most of the time? Do we lack skills to even do our position effectively? It is so hard to evaluate ourselves in any accurate manor. Other people do that for you.
Most people just have opinions and that may not be the true critical assessment path to seek, but someone skillful with people and have tons of experience with many different types of personalities and evaluated skill-sets usually have the insight to give glimpses of yourself that you may never be aware of. That is a very valuable consultation and one that is to be seriously pondered and considered. Especially when they tell you about your weaknesses and shortcomings.
So how do you respond to this? Do you go into defensive mode and try to push back? Do you tell yourself to focus on fixing or closing the gap of your weaknesses and shortcomings? Or do you just double-down on your strengths, thank the sage for giving you a point of view about yourself that you may never have been aware of and you take it as a very valuable learning step towards happiness and fulfillment?
Knowing a little more about yourself than you did before and understanding that we all have strengths and weaknesses and the sage's advise was just what you need now and again to keep you on the right track and not wondering our in the desert.
