A few months ago I came across a very disturbing story about an event not only happening at a college campus but being organized and promoted by the state funded institution!

Drag Me To Hell Drag Show

I grew up in a very solid Christian home but more than that, I’ve always had a very sensitive spirit to evil and the spiritual world. The few times I stupidly watched horror movies left me scarred even still today with scenes that make my stomach curl and my arm hairs raise. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit has helped cleanse those visions from my mind but on occasion, they still flash by and it’s just as frightening now in my late 30’s as it was in my early 20’s.

Therefore, because of this sensitivity, I am extremely careful with what I look at.

Unfortunately, it seems the demonic world is not only not hiding anymore, it’s being paraded around as “art” and thrust into the faces and minds of the next generation. College kids are bombarded with terms like “inclusivity” and “equity” and told not to be divisive or hateful if they disagree with a lifestyle that clearly contradicts God’s design.

I guess one could argue, no one’s forcing these kids to go to college (well, probably some parents are!) so if they don’t like it…just leave! I would actually whole-heartedly agree with this! I don’t think Christian parents should be sending their kids to the overwhelming majority of secular (and so called Christian) colleges…but I digress!

Yes, these kids don’t HAVE to go but do I have the same option with my tax dollars? Can I also opt out of events that my money funds that completely contradicts my firmly held beliefs? Are colleges using government funds to operate these drag shows? The short answer: yes. Can I opt out? No.

So what are we to do? Well, I think it’s past time for Christians to stop participating in demonic entertainment. And before you start to think, “we would never do that!” Do your kids collect Pokemon cards? Do you watch horror movies based on the supernatural world? Does your little girl dream of marrying a shiny vampire?

I’m no saint! I’ve fallen into my share of fandom with ridiculous teen dramas but as I’ve gotten older and my spirit continues to grow more aware and sensitive to the battle of good and evil all around us, I just can’t have anything to do with it, nor do I welcome it into our home.

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” Ephesians 5:11
