A male to female transitioner attending Middlebury college was found deceased in his dorm room following a battle with addiction and a choice to mix fentanyl and cocaine alone. Described as having mental health issues and substance abuse disorder, he discussed taking suboxone to prevent relapse. Middlebury tried to kick him out until he got real treatment, but he just moved into a homeless shelter and took drugs and suggested he was going to end his life until they agreed to let him come back.
A few days before his overdose, Evelyn suffered a concussion and a broken tooth in a bike accident, before returning to his dorm room to have a 3 day drug bender in his room that would prove to be fatal. Now Middlebury is being painted as responsible for the death due to the soft transphobia of not realizing the trans person is chasing coke with fentanyl in their room again.
Ethan appears to have transitioned as a late adolescent/ young adult, but despite his posts on social media about his dramatic improvement dressing as a woman, clearly much was left unaddressed in an attempt to normalize his pathology. All the while, he had no regrets on social media.
