A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of teaming up with Live From the Nest North Carolina for A Night of Folk & Friends, a special live podcast taping and acoustic concert with Alexander Robichaud, Scivic Rivers, and Dissimilar South. I’m thrilled today to release the first episode of the acoustic series, featuring the sounds of and conversation with Dissimilar South. The full episode is available to paid subscribers, and a free preview is available for all subscribers.
Based in North Carolina, Dissimilar South has been categorized as indie rock, new folk, Americana, and even polished pop-country. Whatever they are, their refreshing sound is characterized by rich instrumentation, honest lyrics, and luscious harmonies. Dissimilar South’s core is the musical relationship of Carter Hodge and Maddie Fisher, now a six year affair. They released their debut EP “Treehouse” in 2021 and album “Tricky Things” in 2022.
