This week on New Release … repliCANs Ashley and Drew go looking for deadly machines posing as humans (where’s Derrick, by the way?). Blade Runner is Ridley Scott’s follow-up to Alien and Harrison Ford’s first movie post Indy … so … fair to say expectations are high. Combine that pedigree with techno-future sets, an epic jazz-synth score by Vangelis, and the philosophical heft of a Phillip K. Dick story at its core and surely this movie has all the makings of summer’s next big blockbuster. Well … time will tell. Does BR deserve its cult classic status or will it be lost in time like tears in the rain? We shall see.
