We’re a bit all over the place on this one but started talking with women on social media looking to flee the Trump admin’s fascism in… Spain and Portugal (?), and onto the Eileen Gu Olympics controversy, then to VP Vance’s visit in Armenia and why Courtney doesn’t care if it bothered Turkey.

I called Eileen Gu a snowboarder, not a skier, but take that as a sign of how little I think of her -C

What we’re watching on Twitter today:

Stop what you’re doing and watch this video perfectly illustrating the socialist brainrot on college campuses - we missed this when it came out and it is making the rounds:

The contrast between Chinese American olympians Alyssa Liu and Eileen Gu couldn’t be more stark:

(tweet translation: “Today, American social media is filled with mockery and even harsh condemnation of Gu Ailing (Eileen Gu). She was born in the United States, received her skiing training in the United States, yet she wears clothing patterned with the five-star red flag and competes for the Chinese team at the Olympics. In the end, she took a huge fall, dropping out of the gold medal contention. She sentimentally claimed that the burden was too heavy—one end is China, the other is America. But in reality, her heart is with money. In China, she secured 23 million USD in advertising endorsement deals. Gu Ailing is truly “Gu Aiqian” (Gu loves money), and it was money that weighed her down so heavily that she took a massive tumble on the competition field. At the same time, the English-speaking internet is full of praise for another American-born Chinese girl, Alysa Liu (刘美贤). Not only does she represent the U.S. team, she also won the championship and took home the gold medal. Both born in the United States—why are these two girls so different? The biggest reason lies in their family upbringing. Alysa Liu’s father, Liu Junguo (I have met him), is a dissident who participated in the 1989 democracy movement and personally witnessed the Chinese Communist Party killing children in Tiananmen Square. He taught his daughter to understand good and evil and to be grateful. Now look at Gu Ailing’s mother—she has her eyes dead set on money. There’s a widely circulated online photo of Gu Ailing’s mom staring intently at the billionaire Elon Musk with a face full of fawning flattery; that look in her eyes makes it seem like she wants to swallow Musk whole and bring him home. With a mother like that, is it any wonder she raised her daughter to become a literal money tree?”)

Apparently Erika Kirk is heading to Northern Ireland to ramp up Turning Point Ulster, which Courtney will undoubtedly have a plethora of takes on (the NI part, we’re team let a widow grieve and carry out the org he left to her however she sees fit over here):

Can we stop with the Clavicularisms please now? This one at least was less obnoxious. We’re way too old for all this.

Don’t miss some of our favorites from the week so far, including:

Coucy’s literary takes:

Courtney Armenia-maxxing (ok, one last gen-z-ism):
