Prayer isn’t easy for many of us. Sometimes, we’re unsure if God will answer, or our prayers might be too self-centered. I wants us to enjoy praying, like the Apostle Paul did. By learning from Paul, we can know who to pray to and what to say.
—Pastor Alistair Begg
Paul's letter to the Ephesians serves as an ideal "prayer manual," and I’ve found 23 examples of what God wants for His church. These prayers are distinctly God-focused rather than personal-focused; they internal spiritual disposition rather than external circumstances. Paul prays for eternal matters like grace, peace, wisdom, revelation, hope, strength, love, righteousness, and boldness for believers.
When we pray according to God's will—as demonstrated in these biblical prayers—we can expect answers. Unlike temporal requests that may go unanswered, prayers aligned with God's desires receive surer responses, though they may require patience and trust.
In this PrayerCast, I want to incorporate three scriptural prayers into our personal prayer time, focusing on what God wants for the church and individual believers instead of only personal needs and circumstances.
Three Prayers from Ephesians 3:14-19
* For Strength
* For Dwelling
* For Love
14... for this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I ask that out of the riches of His glory He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth 19 of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
All these prayers—and 20 others, are part of my book: Praying God’s Perfect Will: Asking Exactly What He Wants with 23 Prayers from Ephesians
