Welcome to our Inauguration Day—a moment to reclaim what’s ours.
For too long, Black women have been conditioned to see each other as competition instead of community. But today, we’re flipping the script. This isn’t just a conversation—it’s a call to action. These cycles of division, rooted in systemic oppression, colorism, and the “strong Black woman” narrative, were built to keep us disconnected and distracted from our true power. But we don’t have to play by those rules anymore.
The truth is, we’re stronger together. But we’ve been sold the lie that there’s only room for one of us to thrive, or that supporting someone else somehow takes away from our own magic. In this episode, I’m unpacking the lies.
Here’s what’s on deck in this episode:
* How systems of oppression keep us divided—and how to spot those patterns.
* The history behind these divisions, from colorism to media narratives that pit us against one another.
* Why naming the problem is the first step to breaking free and reclaiming our collective power.
This isn’t about quick fixes or simple solutions—it’s about being honest. Honest about how we’ve been set up, how we’ve internalized it, and what it takes to rewrite the story. To wrap it all up, I’ll share one of my favorite pieces, You Are Your Ancestors’ Wildest Dreams. It’s a reminder of the resilience in our DNA and the strength we carry to make real change.
