When we are trying to learn something new, we usually have a preferred way of learning something by which we retain the maximum information.
Some of us learn best by OBSERVING, some of us by HEARING, some of us by READING, while some of us learn by actually DOING it.
This question was posed to me a few weeks back and it really got me to think. While I enjoy reading a lot and I use that to get the maximum information, I find that I am still not able to retain a lot of it for a long duration.
After that when I was reading about neuroplasticity and I was teaching that concept to my friend, I found that after the discussion was done, I was able to recollect a maximum number of things.
So that got me to realize that my dominant style of learning is TEACHING. I learn the best and retain the maximum information when I am teaching a concept, because along with teaching people something I am even answering their doubts, if I don't know something I can get back to them about it. So I will actually end up going back and reading more.
But the worst part is that I didn't even know this until I was 26 years old.
I wish I knew this when I was a school kid, I would have probably benefited a lot in my academics.
Question for the week:
Think about it and find out what your dominant style of learning is, tell me about it and use it to your advantage.
Quote of the week:
I looked at the people who were making me uncomfortable and realized how uncomfortable they were in their own skin.
