Description

I have read Matthew Walker’s, “Why We Sleep” and I have made an Instagram post about the same. I know how integral is sleep to our health and how a lot of things can go for a toss. But I was only able to fathom it fully today when I neglected my sleep since almost a week.

I had a lot of plans last week and I was constantly staying up late at night and waking up early the next day, so let’s see- I had not slept well since 4-5 days. But today it hit me like a hammer. I was not able to get out of bed, my stomach felt queasy and I was very much disoriented. That’s when I realized that, “I am too old for this s**t”.

If i felt this effect after just 4-5 days, I can only imagine what it must be doing to individuals who lose sleep for a long term.

I also spoke to a friend today who was telling me that she has not been sleeping well since a few months now and that she has a thing where she feels stressed if she sleeps for more time and that she’s wasting precious time if she sleeps more.

I couldn’t agree more. A lot of us feel that sleeping for 8 hours out of 24 hours might be a precious waste of time. But that can only stem from the fact that we are actually not in control of the remaining 16 hours.

The truth is, in order to prevent disease and to ensure full brain capacity, our body needs 8 hours of sleep, 7 times a week. Even if you are not able to catch the deep sleep, its very important to shut your eyes and lie down and practice full body relaxation.

Task for this week-

Make sure to shut off all important work and sleep for 7-8 hours every night. Even if you don’t feel sleepy immediately, still try to shut your eyes and keep your body rested.

Quote of the week-

You have been criticising yourself for YEARS and nothing has ever happened. So try approving yourself and see what happens.

I have a 30 day challenge going on currently for good lifestyle habits wherein I give a simple and easy task to do in the morning and everyone has 24 hours to complete the task for the day. It’s free of cost and I am mainly doing it to help out individuals who are going through post- covid fatigue or weakness and also for those individuals who want to just take a step in the right direction.
