Hey friends of the Darkling Psalter,
I’m trying something new—The Darkling Psalter now has a podcast. Nothing fancy, just me sitting down to read some of these psalms out loud. They’ve always felt like they should be spoken, and this felt like the right next step.
The first episode is up today. If you’ve been reading along on this Substack over the last few years, I think you’ll enjoy hearing them in a different register—closer to how they sound in my head when I write them.
For now, you can only listen on this Substack. This podcast is still in “beta mode,” which means that if there is a good response, I’ll keep doing it and syndicate it more broadly. If it doesn’t end up being something people listen to, I’ll draw it to a close after a few episodes. Let me know in the comments or at andymatthewpatton@gmail.com.
And while you’re giving me feedback, I want to know what you are listening for. In part, I’m making this because I would want to be able to turn on the DS podcast and think about the psalms in this way as I drive or take a walk, but I’d really like to know what you do with it. After all, a short, meditative, devotional-ish podcast isn’t your average “two people talking about a topic” podcast model that has been so successful everywhere else.
