Hello and welcome to Beauty – the no-frills, no-nonsense podcast about all things beauty. True beauty. God’s beauty. I am your host, Deanna, and today we are talking about the beauty of creativity.

The other morning, I had breakfast with two of my most favorite people. They are setting trails ablaze in their quest for world domination. We only had a short time together, but our conversation rang in my ears all day. I was reminded of similar times we sat in an office, stood in a hallway, or gathered around a table talking about the same things – the things that bring us life. These two friends are uber creative. You know the kind I am talking about. People who can spit ideas out off the top of their head and run with them. I can give you ideas, but I’m going to need a little time to let those ideas swirl in my brain a bit.

Our little chat reminded me of a book I read several years ago: Called to Create, by Jordan Raynor. It was about how God created us to create. When we use the ordinary things of our lives, we do extraordinary things for Him. Some people would say creativity is reserved for the artistic type, but I would have to disagree. Jordan says it best in his book. He writes:

“For the first six days, God revealed His creative spirit by speaking stars, animals, and oceans into existence. Then, on the sixth day, He created man “in His own image” and commanded him to “fill the earth and subdue it.” This is more than just a call to reproduction. This is an explicit call to create, an invitation for humankind to reflect the image of the Creator God to the world!”

Creativity manifests in different ways for different people. We all have some form of creativity. Some people can design and plan the perfect party. Some can crunch numbers and give quotes. Some can the mix music – and others can sing or play the instruments. Swimmers and divers are just as much creative as a stage performer. I could go on with comparisons, but hopefully, you get my point. We are all creative in some way because we are created to create.

I am a book coach and editor. It is not a fancy job. It doesn’t offer immense financial security. This is a ministry for me because it is my calling. I love this job because words give life. We have stories to share – not just fictional stories, but stories about our life experiences and stories to motivate and encourage others. I believe we all have a voice and it’s my goal to help you use your voice for good.

For the past several days, I have shared about my “ideal client” in my IG stories. My ideal client is someone who has an idea but doesn’t know what to do with it. She is someone who is scared, but ready; someone with an inspiring experience. My ideal client desires accountability, feedback, and support. She wants to learn the craft of storytelling and become a better writer. My ideal client is you.

I have worked with many different people on a variety of projects, from Sci-fi to bible study; books to blogs; social media to old school fliers; presentations to projects. I help others use their voice to make a difference in the world. That is my passion. My calling to create.

It’s a beautiful thing when we embrace our call. I encourage you to think about your experiences; your profession; your strengths; your greatest passions. Let’s talk about the ways we can use those things to help bring life to others. In a nutshell, that is what I do. I help you bring your words to life so those words can bring life to others. Whether you want to start a blog, improve your social media presence, create a manual, send a newsletter, offer a class, or write a book, I can help. Let’s connect.

How have you been called to create?

D 😊
