Like a shock, fear can come out of nowhere. It is at this point that we have a choice: we can succumb to the fear, or we can breathe and let it move through us.
Fear is something we all deal with in varying degrees. It is wired into us, it is there for protection and guidance. It is only troublesome when we allow it to stay rather than let it flow through us.
There are so many reasons we allow it to stay in our bodies, in our minds and in our hearts. Sometimes, it is because we have been wounded and feel like if we let it go that we will be hurt again. Other times, it is because we have a pattern in our subconscious that keeps us in a state of fear, because that is what our body is used to. And other times we feel it, and like a drug, we attach to it and keep feeding our minds more and more of it. Like the cookie monster who can't stop eating up all the fear cookies.
I have found for myself that most times it is all three or a combination of a few! The more I can recognize it before it takes hold, the more I can allow it to move through me. It is only energy, and the thing we fear is always a projection of what we think is going to happen.
How can that be, you may be asking, as it feels so real? That is how powerful our minds are when we allow them to run away with fear; it consumes us! Our nervous system and body suffer for it. The more we can acknowledge the fear, thank it for its warning and then let it move through us, the more we are able to find inner peace and calm.
It is like a reset of our whole system to allow the fear to move through us. Most times when I do this, I can see the next moment I am safe. What I had projected was going to happen, is not what happens. I also notice that the more I fight it or try to push through it or ignore it, the louder it gets. Because of this, I am learning to allow fear to be like a wave and to move through me, bringing me into the next experience with more peace and calm.
