Description

In today's program we’re going to be exploring the vast width and depth of emotions expressed through ambient, atmospheric, and neoclassical music from artists around the world. My two featured albums bring different sets of emotions to the table with their brand new releases. My featured artists include Vermont-based ambient artist Thorny who has a great new album that explores the transitional experience from day to night in his new album “A Long Dusk”; and City of Dawn is out with a brand new remix of Rhucle’s album “Cycle” that feels reassuring and hopeful — something we could use quite a bit of these days. Plus music from Oblivion8, Tiger Arcade, Gollden, Jörget Gustafsson, Aaron J. Noth and many, many more....

Strap in and make yourself comfortable, join us for the next two hours for global ambient music, on The Stolace Relay Station.

Featured album /// "A Long Dusk" by Thorny

I have a soft spot for long-form ambient music that takes its time to tell a story well beyond the commonly accepted limits of popular music. New from Vermont-based ambient artist Thorny, comes the long-form composition “A Long Dusk” clocking in at nearly 44 minutes in length and slowly, but methodically tells a story of change and transition, and the contemplative wake it leaves behind. The instrumentation evolves with the sort of minimalism that would leave people with a short attention span squeamish and begging for mercy, but I’m here to tell you that it’s a intriguingly beautiful space that Thorny has created and is worthwhile coming along for the ride with its deeply atmospheric layers of suspense and intrigue — it’s a long form composition that deserves your time and attention. "A Long Dusk" by Thorny is available now on most streaming music services as well as at https://witherwillow.bandcamp.com.

Featured album /// Rhucle - Cycle (City Of Dawn Remix)" by City of Dawn

There is nothing like a warm conversation to put you at ease, to help you feel like you belong and have a place in this world. Well the new remix album from City of Dawn somehow manages to replicate that feeling in the beautiful remix of the album “Cycle” by Japanese ambient artist Rhucle. While honoring the beauty of the original release and its esthetic, Damian of City of Dawn masterfully creates a musical dialogue with the original album and produces a new work that feels comforting and reassuring, like a dear friend coming along side you, putting their arm around you in solidarity, and giving you an affectionate kiss on the forehead, telling you that everything is going to be alright. It’s the sort of album that I’d recommend as a part of your self-care routine. “Cycle (City Of Dawn Remix)” is available now on most streaming music services as well as at https://cityofdawn.bandcamp.com.
