In today's program we’ll be exploring a few themes in some of the sets later on, including exploring the influence of jazz in ambient music, drone-based ambient music, and calming or meditative music. Also on the show, my featured artists both have great new releases that explore other facets of the genre. Ambient artist HolyKindOf takes us on an experimental ride with their new album out now on Laaps Records, and Wayfarer artist Interstellar Data Unit checks off all the boxes with their space-themed ambient album which we’ll be exploring later on in the program. Plus new ambient music from Jason Potter, Loneward, Arrival in Eden, Ian Crawford and many, many more....
Strap in and make yourself comfortable, join us for the next two hours for global ambient music, on The Stolace Relay Station.

“Stay / Sea" by HolyKindOf
New from Laaps Records comes a three-song EP from Ohio-based experimental electronic artist J. Bryan Parks, who operates under the project name HolyKindOf. “Stay / Sea” is the sort of boundary-less experimental electronic album that tests the elasticity and receptivity of conventional music lovers with its dense layers of effected loops, cello-based drones, field recordings, tape and vinyl textures, and other analog elements. It’s an evocative listening experience that is both bewildering and increasingly intriguing with each passing phrase. There’s a beauty in the slow burn, the undemanding evolution of sound, and the equanimous drone surrounded by the squeals of vinyl and cassettes. It’s unlike anything I’ve heard and is an essential for the adventurous listener. “Stay / Sea" by HolyKindOf is available now at https://laaps.bandcamp.com.
“Crossing the Heliopause” by Interstellar Data Unit
New from the Wayfarer Music Group label comes a space-inspired album that will take you to deep-space destinations with a simple press of the play button. Washington-based ambient and electronic artist Interstellar Data Unit’s new album “Crossing the Heliopause” is chock-full of longer-form compositions that take you through atmospheric environments filled with hushed radio chatter, the soft ambient noise of ventilation systems, the ornamental bloops and bleeps of navigational computers, and a wash of spacious instrumentation to bring it all together. It’s common knowledge among my music-loving friends that I love a good space-themed musical experience — well the new album from Interstellar Data Unit will be right at home alongside my other favorite space-themed albums, leading me on an expedition through the frontier of my imagination. “Crossing the Heliopause” by Interstellar Data Unit is available now on most streaming music services as well as at https://wayfarermusicgroup.bandcamp.com.
