"Just listen to the whole story. Look at the human. And empower this human to find the connections, to find solutions."
- Mia Khalil
In this week's episode, my guest Mia Khalil and I dive into a profound conversation about personal growth, mental and physical health, and the process of transformation from struggle to success and freedom.
This discussion isn't just about sharing personal anecdotes; it offers valuable perspectives on navigating through challenging times with resilience while staying connected with our inner selves & communities at large.
It's about highlighting life’s natural dichotomies – joy/sorrow; light/darkness; creation/destruction – and emphasizing how these contrasts are integral parts of our existence rather than opposing forces to be feared or avoided.
Furthermore, we underline how emotional factors can exacerbate physical problems – highlighting the need for traditional medical fields to shift towards acknowledging broader systemic elements affecting health & well-being.
Boundless Love,
ME

"It didn't happen fast enough
I dragged my feet long enough
Wore those chains like pearls of the sea
They made me huff, and they made me puff
I lost my breathing; I lost my soul
Desperate to fit in a common mold
I feared the truth, and I leaned in pain
My heart was sinking in a deep black hole
How can I go on while being so different?
To my fight and struggle, they're so indifferent
I became so weary in my fight to make them see
From a whole full moon, they can only see a crescent
Sometimes I feel it's easier this way
To walk their path in the middle of the day
To breathe and sing, while alone with the stars
When no one else is there, looking down my way
But I found that joy doesn't hide in the dark
That freedom and peace can't help but to bark
That silence is poison, when it kills al my dreams
That I'm not a goldfish between the teeth of a shark
In the name of pure love, they tie, and they judge
They lean and softly kiss, my pain with a grudge
They promise me the world, if only I can change
If only I command my aching heart not to nudge
I finally got it, the power to stand
With only my strength to hold my hand
I looked inside, and discovered my treasure
So precious, so pure, like foam on the sand
Shameless and free doesn't come in a wink
The great inner peace takes more than a blink
Being different feels heavy, like a wave in the sea
But waves are endless; ocean waves don't sink"
Waves Don't Sink poem from Mia Khalil's book of poetry A Butterfly's Kiss: A Healing Journey Through the Power of Creative Expression
