In our first interview episode we had the privilege of discussing the topic of defunding the police with the Clovis Chief of Police, Curt Fleming.
We specifically wanted to give him the opportunity to respond to some criticisms from a project of Campaign Zero called https://policescorecard.org/?city=clovis (The Police Scorecard). This project gave the Clovis PD an âFâ in use of force, accountability, and approach to policing.
Chief Fleming was gracious to give us a considerable amount of his time to address these matters. He responds to the misconstrued data on deadly use of force and some of their current policies to limit brutality. He discusses their measures of accountability and the importance of fostering a trusting relationship with the community. Finally he corrects the misconceptions about unsolved homicides.
