This sermon was originally delivered at Emmanuel Chinese Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS, on July 23, 2023.
In this exposition of Matthew 22:1–14, Kenny shows how Jesus, fresh from the triumphal entry, exposes Israel’s leaders for spurning the King’s invitation to His Son’s wedding feast. Their rejection brings judgment, the gospel goes out to the highways, and the hall fills with unlikely guests—yet one man without the wedding garment (Christ’s righteousness) is bound and cast into outer darkness. Kenny drives home the sobering truth: many are called, but few are chosen; the feast is open to all who come, but no one enters on their own terms. A sharp, urgent call to trust Christ’s finished work, rest in His righteousness alone, and go invite others while the doors remain open.
