Happy New Year Fam

Preached this week with COVID. I hope the sermon ministers to you.

Here’s some stuff I shared with my church today.

* Devo: Jesus Wants to Share Your Burden

https://pastorrick.com/jesus-wants-to-share-your-burden/

Matt 11:28-30 ....Jesus uses three notable verbs in this Scripture: come, learn, and take. It’s like Jesus said, “Come team up with me so you can learn how I do it. Take on a lighter load that will reduce your stress and make your problems easier to navigate.”

When you’re yoked with Christ, you move together with him. You move in the same direction and at the same speed. You move in the right direction and at the right speed. And you move with a lighter burden.

This video summarizes the overall story of the Bible as a series of crossroad decisions

3. New CIty Catechisms: Question 1

Question 1 What is our only hope in life and death?

Answer: That we are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death, to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ.

Scripture: Romans 14:7–8 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.

4. Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church*,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

* The word “catholic” is a Latin word that means “universal” and the line should be read that “I believe…in the holy universal church” – meaning, we believe that God is best experienced and worshiped in the context of community.
