Hey Friends,
Here’s Sunday’s Sermon.
Here’s the outline:
To remember today's sermon, think of "DNT" which stands for "Dream Needs a Team."
* Just as Jesus assembled a team of disciples, we too are called to work in harmony with fellow believers.
* Our dreams are not solitary pursuits; they're part of the greater dream—the expansion of God's Kingdom.
* The Kingdom of God is built by a collective body of believers, reflecting the unity within the Trinity.
In life, we all need help. Learning to connect and work together isn't just a choice; it's a fundamental part of being human.
Let’s frame our thinking with some key text scriptures
It is my hope that this sermon will inspire you to:
* Reconcile and reconnect with your entire family, fostering stronger bonds.
* Cultivate a deeper sense of commitment to your faith community, actively engaging and supporting one another.
* Create a list of trusted medical professionals and specialists for your well-being.
* Establish connections with elected officials, constituent leaders, and liaisons in your community.
* Build relationships with union representatives and be actively involved in the leadership of your union.
* Familiarize yourself with all the benefits and support systems available through your job and community.
* Develop personal connections, like knowing someone in your bank, to enhance your network and community engagement."
Adam and Loneliness (Genesis 2:18 NLT)
- Scripture: Genesis 2:18 (NLT)
- "Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.'"
- Explanation: God saw that Adam was lonely and provided Eve as a companion. Even in paradise, we need a team to fulfill our purpose.
Two Are Better Than One (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT)
- Scripture: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT)
- "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."
- Explanation: Solomon's wisdom tells us that two are better than one. Together, we can achieve more, encourage one another, and weather life's storms.
Anointing of Jehu and Elisha (1 Kings 19:15-16 NLT)
- Scripture: 1 Kings 19:15-16 (NLT)
- "Then the Lord told him, 'Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint Hazael to be king of Aram. Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet.'"
- Explanation: God sent Elijah to anoint Jehu and Elisha for a divine purpose. God often brings others into our journey; don't go it alone.
Big Idea #1- Your Faith Team
Your Faith Team includes:
* Pastoral/Prophetic leadership (2 Chronicles 20:20, Hebrews 13:17)
* Your leaders (James 5:13-14)
* Your brothers and sisters (Malachi 3:16)
Big Idea #2- Build your Network
* It’s important for all Summit Church members to identify your social location (Gender, Age, Ethnicity, Social Class, Location) and figure out what resources you are unaware of and supports are being denied to you because the church is not going to meet all your tangible needs.
* Learn to connect and partner with elected officials, city agencies, job benefits, union benefits, features, and resources, etc.
Big Idea #3- Your Family
* Your church family is not here to replace your blood family.
* Your children are your arrows (Psalm 127:4 NLT).
* Paul's nephew story (Acts 23:16 NLT).
The New Testament mentions at least seven of Paul's relatives. In Romans 16:21, Paul refers to Jason, Lucius, and Sosipater as his "kinsmen" or "countrymen". These men were all related to Paul.
John the Apostle and James were Jesus' cousins. And Jesus Brothers wrote book of James and Jude.
Jesus merged families on the cross when he said to ‘Woman, behold, thy son! Behold, thy mother!
TLDR: Your dream needs a team. Seek guidance from leaders, support from your church family, and wisdom from your network. Invest in your family and connect with hidden resources.
Homework (HW): Reflect on your network and identify one person or resource you can connect with this week to help you on your journey. Pray for your Pastors, Board and Church. Commit to attending our next few events.
