Description

Taylor Moreland for Kansas House District 7 , is running to represent parts of Labette County including Parsons and Neosho County including parts of Chanute.

Moreland supports raising the minimum wage in Kansas, while also emphasizing the need to support small businesses and underfunded sectors during that transition. She acknowledges that policies that work in other regions may not translate directly to Kansas and stresses the importance of considering the local economic context.

She highlights her experience working in the foster care system, pointing to frontline workers in group homes and residential facilities who are often underpaid despite doing demanding and emotionally difficult work. She argues that these workers should be earning a living wage so they can focus on caring for children rather than struggling to meet their own basic needs. Moreland also raises concerns about workforce retention, noting that nearby states with higher wages can draw workers away, contributing to population and workforce loss in Kansas.
