Description

The story of The Balboas stretches back across several decades. It’s a story that intertwines with surf-guitar legend Dick Dale—while on the band’s latest record, Bite! Blood! Repeat! (out this Friday on Burn N’ Surf Records), the groups spiritual bond with the movies of Quentin Tarantino is even more firmly cemented with the feature of The 5678s (who appeared in Kill Bill).

This latest record features many other notable collaborations, including Mike Watt and Paul Roessler.

Rich Griffith joins me to discuss the record, the band’s history, surfing, punk music, touring and what it means to be a Balboa.

Closing track: “Bury It With You” (Burn N’ Surf Records, 2025)
