Andrew Huberman has a short video about the best way to start your day that I’ve posted in a previous article. I start in a similar way just taking a bit longer to check in before I get up - how am I? How does my body feel? What does wiggling my toes do? Moving my fingers? How does my neck feel? My shoulders? The back of my head, and then I get moving!

To walk, and walk with purpose brings so much. Gratitude, focused energy that opens up with each mindful step. Feeling heal first the flat side of your foot and then your toes lift up for the next step.

Many leaders I coach have some kind of mindfulness or physical practice to get centred at the start of the day - even if it’s as simple as asking - What is important today? Who is important? What do I want to learn?

When I looked up this evening - maple tree said hello, her branches reaching up and taking in the rain. I too reached up to feel the drops hit my face and hear the sound, a constant parade of drops on the ground. Waves stronger and lighter moving within its own rhythm. It’s a wonderful feeling. Without control but how we perceive it. This is what is always available to us. To come back to the now and clear our mind - this is the way to engage those around us and see our day.

What are you perceiving right now?
