What is the nature of God?In this Unity lesson, Dr. Mitch explores the First Unity Principle: God is Absolute Good, everywhere present. We follow the evolution of our understanding of God, from the image of an external, personal deity to Divine Omnipresence, the Ineffable, and ultimately the profound spiritual meaning of I AM.Drawing on Charles Fillmore, Scripture, René Descartes, Linda Martella-Whitsett, Martin Luther King Jr., Emily Brontë, and the teachings of Unity, this talk asks what it means to recognize God not as a distant being, but as the Divine Presence in which “we live, and move, and have our being.”The message then moves from metaphysics into practice: if God is everywhere present and every person participates in Divine Reality, what does that mean for how we love our neighbors, respond to injustice, and live the Truth we know? The video also includes archival footage of Unity minister Ed Rabel at Unity Village, offering an additional connection to the history and teaching tradition of Unity. In this videoThe First Unity Principle: God is Absolute GoodThe evolution of our concept of GodFrom the “Invisible Parent” to Divine OmnipresenceThe “Incredible Shrinking God”The Ineffable DivineThe spiritual meaning of I AMThe Tetragrammaton: YHWH and Being itselfCharles Fillmore on personal God vs. God personal to us“In God we live, and move, and have our being”The Third and Fifth Unity PrinciplesLoving God and loving our neighborMartin Luther King Jr. and the “network of mutuality”Emily Brontë on Divine Being and BreathArchival Unity teachings from Ed Rabel at Unity Village⏱️ Timestamps00:00 Opening Affirmation: “I am now in the presence of pure being”01:00 What is the nature of God?02:05 God as the Invisible Parent03:15 Footprints in the Sand and the God who carries us05:00 Looking within: meditation, prayer, and consciousness06:45 Linda Martella-Whitsett and the “Incredible Shrinking God”08:50 The loneliness of not feeling part of something greater10:00 Divine Omnipresence and Absolute Good11:30 From God and Principle to the Ineffable13:00 Beginning with the fact that “I AM”14:15 Descartes: “I think, therefore I am”15:20 Moses, Exodus, and “I AM WHO I AM”16:35 The Tetragrammaton: YHWH and Being18:00 Charles Fillmore: God personal to us19:30 “In God we live, and move, and have our being”20:45 The Third Unity Principle: recognizing Divine Good22:00 Practicing the Presence23:15 Loving God and loving our neighbor24:30 Martin Luther King Jr. and the “network of mutuality”26:00 Genesis 1:27 and the Divine image in humanity27:15 Living the Truth we know28:00 Emily Brontë: “Thou art Being and Breath”30:00 Archival Unity footage: Ed Rabel at Unity Village33:15 Closing reflection and “In God we live and move and have our being”34:37 EndBrightest Blessings!#Unity #UnitySpirituality #CharlesFillmore #EdRabel #UnityVillage #NewThought #IAm #DivinePresence #God #Spirituality #Metaphysics #FirstUnityPrinciple #UnityPrinciples #SpiritualAwakening #Christianity #PracticalChristianity
