What does true prosperity mean? In this Unity lesson, “Unselfish Prosperity: Abundance for the Good of All,” we explore prosperity as more than personal accumulation. Drawing on Charles Fillmore, Wallace D. Wattles, Ralph Waldo Trine, Thomas Carlyle, Jesus, and Ralph Waldo Emerson, we examine the spiritual difference between abundance that circulates and wealth that is hoarded.Through the parable “The Tree That Held On,” we explore letting go of fear, old ideas, and limiting concepts of wealth so that new possibilities can emerge. The lesson considers the New Thought understanding of prosperity, the problem of Mammon-mindedness, stewardship, giving and receiving, and the relationship between our own flourishing and the flourishing of our neighbors. The video also incorporates historical audio and visual material featuring Martha Giudici, Edna L. Carter writing in Unity Magazine, Ralph Waldo Trine’s In Tune with the Infinite, and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Each and All,” read by Archibald MacLeish. The central message is simple: prosperity is not merely something we possess. It is something we participate in and circulate. As our good increases, we have the opportunity to become channels through which that good blesses our neighbors, our communities, and the wider world.Chapters / Timestamps:00:00 — Unselfish Prosperity: Abundance for the Good of All03:00 — The Tree That Held On: A Parable of Prosperity06:45 — The Circulation of Life and Abundance08:00 — The Inner Attitude Behind True Wealth09:00 — Charles Fillmore on Wealth and Hoarding11:00 — Wallace D.
