Description

In response to escalating political violence and a deep moral sickness in our public life, clergy, moral leaders, and impacted people gathered today at Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, DC, for a Moral Monday vigil and action against unholy war and a public commitment to intensify and deepen nonviolent resistance across the country.

As the Trump administration continues to funnel billions of dollars to the war in Iran - even as the War Powers Act makes it illegal to continue military action beyond Friday, May 1, without Congressional authorization - we called for an immediate end to the war and a redirection of massive military spending to people in need. We also announced coordinated peace rallies outside the White House and Congressional offices across the country on May 11 that will deepen and escalate nonviolent moral resistance and a new effort to recruit conscientious objectors as the US military implements automatic registration through the Selective Service Administration.
