Description

A miracle is something that occurs beyond the limits of human strength, strategy, or probability—an outcome so unlikely, so perfectly timed, or so transformative that it points to a power greater than ourselves.

I grew up with a deep awareness that the establishment of America was nothing short of a miracle from God. It wasn’t just a patriotic sentiment—it was a truth woven into the stories, teachings, and convictions that shaped my early years. I was taught to see the improbable victories, the providential timing, and the biblical principles embedded in our founding as clear evidence of God’s hand guiding a people toward a purpose larger than themselves. From childhood on, I understood that America didn’t simply happen; it was raised up, protected, and sustained by divine intervention.

IT’S A MIRACLE

America itself bears the marks of a miracle. Its founding, survival, and rise were shaped by events that defied logic and exceeded human capability, from improbable victories to providential moments that altered the course of history. When viewed through this lens, America is more than a nation; it is a testimony to divine orchestration woven into the fabric of its story.

America was born and raised as a great nation with a unique calling—to stand as a defender of “little Israel.” From its earliest days, the United States carried a sense of divine purpose, and part of that purpose has been to protect, support, and stand with the land and people through whom God brought His covenant promises into the world.

From the earliest pages of Scripture to the unfolding story of nations, one truth remains constant: God raises up nations for His purposes (Daniel 2:21). Some He allows to rise in power, others He humbles, and a few He forms in ways so improbable that their very existence testifies to divine providence. America is one of those nations. Its birth, development, and endurance defy the normal patterns of empire. Historically, philosophically, and spiritually, the United States stands as a miracle—an unlikely creation shaped by biblical principles, forged through impossible odds, and sustained by a providential thread woven through its story. All for one reason, to protect God’s nation, Israel.

America’s Identity | The Bible

Unlike most nations formed through ethnicity, geography, or monarchy, America was founded on ideas—ideas that trace unmistakably to the Bible. According to historical research, many of America’s founding principles and governing concepts were directly influenced by Judeo‑Christian thought. These include:

• Human dignity (Genesis 1:27)

• Moral law above civil law (Acts 5:29)

• Liberty as a God‑given right (Galatians 5:1)

• Self‑government under God (Exodus 18:21)

• Equality before the law (Deuteronomy 16:19)

The founders did not create these principles out of thin air. They drew from Scripture, the Reformation, and centuries of biblical reasoning. As The Miracle of America notes, the United States is “modern history’s first and greatest experiment in self‑government,” rooted in biblical ethics and worldview.

Resisting Empiricism

The earliest settlers—particularly the Pilgrims and Puritans—understood themselves as entering into a covenant with God, much like Israel at Sinai. Their writings rest upon Deuteronomy, Joshua, and the prophets. They believed:

• God governs in the affairs of men rather than man governing God.

• Nations rise or fall based on obedience to Him.

• Liberty is inseparable from virtue.

This covenantal mindset shaped everything from local governance to education to the expectation that citizens must be morally responsible for freedom to survive. Even non-believers respected the oversight of this thinking.

Giving Birth to America

The American Revolution: A Victory That Should Not Have Happened

From a purely military standpoint, the American Revolution was unwinnable. A rag‑tag militia of farmers, blacksmiths, and volunteers faced the world’s most powerful empire. Yet again and again, events unfolded that even secular historians call “fortuitous,” “unexplainable,” or “astonishing.”

The film The American Miracle (above)—based on documented historical accounts—highlights these providential moments, noting that Benjamin Franklin himself acknowledged that God “governs in the affairs of men”.

Examples include:

* The fog at Brooklyn Heights that allowed Washington’s army to escape annihilation.

* The storm that halted the British advance at key moments.

* The improbable arrival of French support at the exact turning point of the war.

* Washington’s survival through battles where bullets pierced his coat but not his body.

These events mirror the biblical pattern of God using the weak to confound the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27).

The God-inspired Constitution

The Constitutional Convention was so fractured that at one point it nearly dissolved. Yet out of disagreement emerged a framework so balanced, so enduring, and so rooted in biblical anthropology that it remains unmatched in world history.

The Constitution assumes:

• Human beings are sinful (Jeremiah 17:9).

• Power must be divided (Isaiah 33:22).

• Government must be limited (1 Samuel 8).

• Rights come from God, not rulers (Acts 17:26).

This is why the Constitution has outlasted every other major governing document of its era.

Role in World History | A Beacon of Liberty

America became the first nation to enshrine religious liberty—not as tolerance granted by rulers, but as a God‑given right. This principle has since influenced constitutions around the world.

A Defender of the Oppressed

Across history, America has repeatedly intervened to stop tyranny:

• World War I

• World War II

• The Cold War

* The Protection of Israel

• Global humanitarian efforts

These interventions altered the course of nations and preserved freedom for millions.

A Platform for Global Evangelism

No nation in history has sent more missionaries, printed more Bibles, or funded more gospel work than the United States. This aligns with God’s promise that He blesses nations that honor Him and use their influence for righteousness (Psalm 33:12).

America’s Soul

Every nation God raises faces spiritual opposition. Israel did. The early Church did. And America does.

Fact: If you remove the soul of the Living God from a nation, that nation will eventually implode in and upon itself. Without His truth to anchor it, His righteousness to guide it, and His presence to sustain it, the moral framework collapses, the culture fractures, and the people turn against one another. A nation without God may survive for a moment, but it cannot stand for long.

The fragmentation, moral confusion, and cultural upheaval of today are prophetic warnings of the biblical pattern of nations drifting from their foundations. As The Miracle of America notes, when citizens forget the principles that shaped their nation, the nation weakens.

Yet Scripture reminds us:

• God preserves a remnant (Romans 11:5).

• Nations can return to Him (2 Chronicles 7:14).

• Truth, once sown, cannot be uprooted easily.

America’s story is not finished. Its miracle continues as long as its people remember the Source of its blessings and continue to defend its founding reason for God establishing it - to protect the ‘little Israel.’

Four Points of A Miracle

Biblically

Because its founding principles align with God’s design for human dignity, liberty, and moral order.

Historically

Because its birth and survival defy natural explanation and reflect providential intervention.

Culturally

Because it became a global force for freedom, justice, and the proclamation of the gospel.

Spiritually

Because God has used America—despite its flaws—to advance His purposes in the world.

A Nation Under Providence

America is not perfect. No nation is. But perfection is not the measure of a miracle—improbability is. And America’s existence, endurance, and influence are nothing short of astonishing.

As Scripture teaches, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD” (Psalm 33:12).

America’s miracle is not found in its power, wealth, or achievements, but in the unmistakable evidence that God’s hand has guided its story—from the Pilgrims’ covenant to the Revolution, from the Constitution to the present day.

The question now is not whether America was a miracle. The question is whether we will honor the God who made it one.
