The modern movement of vegetarianism, veganism and anti-fat indoctrination was started by the cult leader of the Seventh Day Adventist Church – Ellen G. White. She supposedly had a vision from an angel that told her this must be the foundation of a new church she was to start (Seventh Day). Up to this point, no such movements, diets or doctrines existed connecting food with spirituality as a culturally accepted movement.
