This phase (#5 - identification) unfolds the foundational concept for complete and effective living in Christ Jesus, through the indwelt Holy Spirit. It is not the end by any means, but the starting place of the disciplee switching from self-effort to Christ doing the work through him OR her. Once the disciple transfers his/her foundation from self to the indwelling life of Christ, real living starts.
“For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11).
