S01 Episode #25 Gluten-Free Holidays The holidays are here along with the first official snowstorm! In this episode, I'm going to direct you towards AWESOME gluten-free holiday finds here in the SLC area and great gluten-free finds online which you can purchase outside of the SLC area to create your amazing gluten-free holiday dish! The Turkey and the Ham We know we have to watch out for sauces, because many have flour or gluten as a thickener. Did you also know that a gluten containing product is found in many types of meat? This gluten-containing ingredient is known as Maltodextrin. You have most likely seen this hiding out in products on the shelves. So what is maltodextrin and is it safe to eat if you have celiacs? What can you do to find gluten-free meat?
- read the label
- look for certified gluten-free meats
- many health food stores have special orders for turkey and other meats which are gluten-free
- meats such as duck, lamb and buffalo are usually gluten-free
