El Roi | God who sees
Definition: The God Who Sees, God Who Sees Me
Pronunciation: el ruh-ee
In the Bible: El Roi is written in the Old Testament where it is mentioned one time. El Roi is found in Genesis 16:13.
El Roi.
The God Who Sees Me.
So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,” for she said, “Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.” -Genesis 16:13
Knowing God as El Roi shows us that He sees us. El Roi, the God who sees me. He sees my pain, my struggles, my fears, my hopes, my everything. He sees and knows. He is able to come alongside us and be our comforter. He knows us and sees us and cares for us. He is our provider. He takes care of us.
We do not have to fear or worry because God sees. He knows. Even if we do fear, we know that we can go to Him and cry out to Him. Hagar wept and the Lord heard. Ishmael cried and God answered. We can cry and go to El Roi with our emotions and all that lays heavy on our hearts.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
We can go to God with confidence knowing He sees. He knows every hair on our head (Luke 12:7). He knows when we sit and rise and wherever we go (Psalm 139). He knows our sorrows and tears.
“You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?”
-Psalm 56:8
God knows us and sees us. We can have full confidence going to God knowing He sees. He sees me. He sees you. What a blessing!
